$$ IMPORTANT REQUEST $$
We are trying to get a Grant from "Bangor Savings Bank", in Western Maine,
to help us get the hay barn renovated. This is a much needed
project. Right now, our barn walls are covered with industrial felt and tarps
to protect the hay from the elements. We need an additon added to it so that
we can store more hay during the winter months to help us cut our costs in hauling
hay during the winter months. We spend far too much money on fuel, vehicle
wear and hiring someone to help with the hay. The hay barn project is something
we are desparately trying to get done this summer before hay season begins. We ask that you
vote for Double B Equine Rescue to help us get this grant. This is very important for the rescue
and we really need your help on this one. All voting ends March 2nd, 2010, so please vote for us
as soon as possible. Again, this is extremely important and time is running out. Also, you may visit
one of the Bangor Savings Bank offices in western Maine and cast your votes in writing, just ask for one of their ballots
for voting. We really need of your help. Thank you.

"Buffalo Bill"
"The new meaning of "Double B" Equine Rescue and the logo "It Shouldn't Hurt To Be A Horse."
Remember the scruffy, lice ridden, skinny, malnurished, worm ridden mini that came to us a year ago? Well, here he is, a year later. Buffalo Bill has turned into a beautiful little guy who loves everyone and has tons of personality. Buffalo Bill came from the edges of possible death to a healthy and happy guy with a big future with the rescue. Sort of an ugly duckling turned into a beautiful swan kind of story. If you could have seen Buff when he first arrived, you would understand the story and understand why "he" best suits the Double B in our rescue's name. He was in sad - sad shape when he first arrived and due to his neglect as a baby, his growing up days would have been short lived. Buffalo Bill, as you know, is the mascott for Double B and has earned that title for the rescue and himself. Please watch for him in up-coming parades, fundraisers, etc., in 2010.
DOUBLE B EQUINE RESCUE...
invites you to come visit this "Maine State Certified Rescue" to meet the horses, ponies and mini's who have been surrendered, seized, thrown away, starved, neglected and beaten by previous owners. We receive everything from drafts to minis. They are of all shapes, sizes, colors, trauma issues and levels. Horses, just like people, get attached to their people. They are a herd animal and "we" become their herd. They do feel and love just as much as we do. When they are tossed aside ( when they are no longer wanted ), never receive food or water, have no way to fend for themselves, or beaten so badly it leaves mental scars and sometimes obvious physical scars caused by trauma, they are brought to Double B or one of the many other rescues. Rescues like Double B step in and take care of what others failed to do. Here, at Double B, these horses receive love, attention, good quality feed, water, medical attention, they are rehabilitated and exercised, just as if they were our own. These animals need us "all" in so many ways. It is you, the public, along with your donations, that help to keep these animals alive. When possible they are adopted to good quality homes by those special people who have enough caring, concern and love left for one more mouth to feed and one more heart to love. We are biting down even harder to assess the possible future homes of these horses. They have endured enough pain and suffering. They deserve to live out the rest of their lives in a much better place than in the past.
We ask that you take the time to come meet the animals many of you help to care for with your generous donations. Double B needs you...these horses need you. Look into their eyes, like so many others, and feel his/her tears. Please come see us and see the good you are doing in the lives of these sad souls.
Within the pages of this website we hope you find someone who tugs at your heart strings and finds his/her way to you. If you don't have the place, time or knowledge to adopt, perhaps you would like to sponsor a horse or pony. If you prefer to sponsor a horse, we can send you an up-dated photo and description of the horse you choose to sponsor. You can request updates on his/her care at any time. We have many horses that need good loving homes. Some are young and untrained, some are able to be ridden, some are just old and need someone to take care of them, to show them human kindness once again until their time comes to cross over. They don't deserve what they have received in life, no more than anyone among your family and friends does. These horses cannot speak up for themselves and tell their stories, or say when they are hungry, when they physically hurt, or when their heart is breaking. Some past history we know, some we can only imagine their stories. Please walk through our website and feel free to send us a post with any comments, suggestions, etc. We would love to hear back from you. We get so many emails, letters, calls etc., please be patient with our replies. We are still working at adding new photos to the website, so please bare with us.
