Now some news about the horses
Lavros -> perfect horse for horseback riding ! for beginner or good rider. kids or adults. He is going everywhere, not scared of anything (well, just be careful with cars, like with every horse). He is not limping when he is walking and just one time, for a really short time [like 30 seconds, just to try], i pushed him to trot (well, you can tell he was a race horse haha, he was paceing [sorry, idk how to spell it], he was doing his 'race trot')and then he was cantering, and even if he was limping, he was SOOOO happy ! I'm not gonna say more about it but if you are interested, call Double B and come visit
Shrek -> not for beginners. He needs someone to work with him a little bit everyday because he lost all his 'good behaviour' ... One thing about him, don't EVER let him do whatever he wants or trust him ! He is not scary but the people who had his, let him do whatever he has wanted so he had some behaviour issues so he needs to be remind where he should be (especially not on your feet haha !). But once you are on him, he is a great horse to ride, but still not for beginners and for teens, or smal adults (think about his back !)
Drifter -> not for beginners AT ALL !!! Needs some training everyday a little bit is good. He is young and has some trust issues but once he knows that you are not gonna hurt him, he is a sweatheart ! After one year of REAL traning (maybe less, idk, depending on how you are training him) he is gonna be AWESOME i'm sure 100% ! He is smart, quicklearner and very cute !! Gonna be awesome for jumping, dressage, barrel racing, ...
Frosty -> for everybody ! awesome for a pet, for riding, just be a little careful cause she hasnt been ridden a lot, but once she understands that you are gonna stay on her no matter what happen, she is GREAT (trust me haha). She is just a sweatheart who deserves a forever home like all of the horses ! AWESOME for family with kids !
Dreamer -> we are working together and you can tell that she is willing to trust you but because of her past, she has some trust issues. She loves being brushes and she gives her feet (yeah yeah believe it or not, she gives them). With patience and love, you can transform her in an AWESOME horse to ride. I wish I could stay longer but i really want her to find her forever home because she really deserves it.
FlipFlop -> needs patience and an ADULT to train her the right way. At first, she was born to be a hunter (kinda jumping) horse but because of what happened, she is here. We have been told that she had a saddle but she is kinda tall for me ... You can tell the way she moves that she can be awesome to ride ~ jumping, dressage, western, horseback riding ...
I think that's all for now. If you need more info, ask Brenda&Lennie or you can also e-mail me
Jess
PS: Thanks Angelina for you draw, that's really cute
PS(2): a little mistake in the next comment > "Thank you, especially for Discovering [instead of founding] this GREAT place" |

Hey !
First, a big THANK YOU to ALL of you for everything you've done for me. To my parents, without them I wont be able to be here and then to my host parents, Carla & Thomas WRIGHT for everything they've done for me, all the trips to Boston, Newport, ... all the fun I had here in Maine. Thank you, especially for founding this GREAT place where I can be around horses. And then to all of you, Brenda, Lennie, Diane, Randy, ... for everything you've done for me too. Thanks for that wonderful going away party! I think I've learn as much about horses as I taught them. That was an AWESOME experience that I'll never forget ! I'll come back don't worry !
During all my time here in Maine, I was in that wonderful High School, Mout Abram * GO ROADRUNNERS !!!*.
And I realize how lucky I was to be able to come here and I know that some students are willing to have the same great experience : BEING AN EXCHANGE STUDENT ! But unfortunately, it's hard for them to find host families because some people are afraid to host but not my host parents, I was really lucky ! If you are interested in hosting, call my host mom, Carla, she is working for the exchange programm "SHARE!" and she always need families to host ! It's a wonderful experience for both side, for the family & the student. They share their cultures and some passions that can change their life (in a good way !)and that they 'll never forget. For example, for me, now my host mom is crazy about horses . haha
So that wasn't about horses but that's something I have wanted to share

Hey !
Yesterday, Sunday 6th, I was at the Rescue. I know, it was rainnig A LOT lol but I don't care.
So I worked with Pokey who was pretty good, not to say perfect since I discovered the hackamore in the barn [Thanks Kim for the info about that ].
Then, I rode Sparky because he is going to leave in a couple weeks and the people who wanted him were here and they still want him.
Finally, I worked with Lavros for the first time [because they are also interested in him maybe so hurry up if you want him] and he was AWESOME !!!! So cool ! We went for a 3 miles walk and he wasn't limping at all. Just at one point he has wanted to trot and he was limping but when you walk, all is good. I think that's all for the moment. Oh no, just one more thing about Lavros. Sometimes he's gonna stop and spins. Don't let him do that. He knows that some riders are afraid to ask him strongly to walk or change direction because of his boken coffin bone, DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK AGAIN AND AGAIN until he does what you were asking. It doesn't happend really often maybe once or twice since saw people riding him. And before and after riding, he LOOOOOVES to be brushed, and pet and he loves playing with the brushes when they are on the door. Actually, I really like him, he is a big shy cutie .
I think now I don't have anything to add.
I'll be here this saturday too.
J.
PS : I was riding in the rain but don't worry, the horses had a warm blanket on their butts with a permeable blanket over it and after rinding, I was drying them so nobody was cold
PS (2) : my email adress changed ! |

He left yesterday and is now at the trainers to be broke the proper and safe way. i volunteer at the rescue so will be able to update them. when one gets an animal it should be meant for their life span they didnt ask for what was dealt to them. please make sure one is ready for the responsibility, care, time, love and money that has to go into any animal. they deserve to be happy take care of them and in return they will you, trust goes both ways. |

What do you mean by a cob ? Welsh Cob ? Irish Cob ? But here is an idea.
Cobs are a little larger than ponies, like 14.2 hands [58 inches or 148cm] to 15.1 hands [61 inches or 155cm], but are small and compact, usually with somewhat short legs.
Did I answer to you question ? |

Hey ! It's me again.
Just to tell you that I was totally wrong about Pokey. With a hackamore, he is just perfect, gentle, soft, you can ride him with or without a saddle and his trot and canter are just so fluid ! But just be careful when you are brushing him or doing his feet because he can escape but just because it's a game for him, not because he is trying to be mean ! But it didn't happend for a long time but he did it 2 times on sunday.
That's all for now,
J. |

| I just wanted to say that I was up at the rescue on 5/17 helping get ready for the yard sale. I can not believe how nice it looks up there. It has never looked so good. Brenda and Lenny have been working their butts off. ALL the horses are in the pasture, happy, laying down and playing. I was able to watch Jess work with Chao's and after about 45 minutes he was really responding well. Good job Jess. Hope to see everyone at the yard sale this weekend. It'll be a good time. |

| Just wanted to let u know that Ginger is doing wonderful! She put on lots of weight and is starting to stand up for herself against my other 2 horses. she loves to be out in the fields but comes running up at feeding time. She actually jumped one of the stone walls 2day playing with Mouse and Princess. For an old horse Ginger sure has no trouble keeping up with my other 2 girls. We love her so much! Thank u for letting us adopt her. |

Hello! I just wanted to say that I love the rescue! I am so glad that my friend brought me with her! I just wanted to tell everyone that my mother grandmother and great friend are going to be doing a bottle drive and donating everything to the rescue! The rescue is indeed of anything as large as hay to smaller things like halters. I am so happy to volunteer at the rescue! Brenda and Lennie, You guys rock and I love what you are doing! Thank you for letting me be apart of it! |

Hey everybody !
Just to make a little summary of the imnprovement of the different horses and ponies.
Shrek ->He is part Morgan cross ... ? He is kind of old now but has some energy ! I ride him once a week during school week but i'll try everyday during vacation. He is pretty good for an old fella, good mover !! He hasn't been ridden for a long time but he does good, he just needs a little training (after 1hour of work he is fine). I like him a lot (even if sometimes like other horses he wanna follow his own way lol). Just a good pony !
Mandy -> She is part Haflinger cross with another breed of pony(Dales, Fell, or Merens). A good friend of mine (who is a really good rider too) was working with her for the first time and she discovered that Mandy is awesome ! She is OK with a western saddle, the blanket, the briddle, the bit and everything. For her first riding she was just amazing (well, she needs a little of training but she is fine). She can be really good for horseback riding ! And she is really gentle !
Pokey ->He is an Appaloosa. Well, what to say about him, ... not for an unexperienced person (or if you just want a pet and no riding ...). He is kind of afraid of having a bit in his mouth so the only way to ride him is with a sort of halter/hackamore. Actually, since sunday, we found an hackamore so we are going to try it on saturday. But he has a lot of energy too (too much sometimes so you have to lunge him before riding !). So for good riders and not too big adults (think about his back !). But still good ! I like him too.
Topper -> a former therapy horse. I really have nothing to say about him unless that he is just PERFECT !! you can do everything on him next to him, he is not gonna move a ear. He is rideable but for short distances because of his age but this is one of the best horse i've ever met ! He just need a family who is going to love him with a pasture where he can lay down in the sun (he LOVES that ) Just the perfect horse EVER !!
Frosty -> She is an old pony but still rideable. She has never been really ridden but we'll try during vacation. Brenda and Lennie say that she is awesome with kids and she had a 6-year old children on her and was so gentle with ! So for a family who wants a little pony to love and ride a little (but she needs a little of train.
Snicker Doodle -> She is part (or full ?) Welsh pony. Really ADORABLE !! She is brave and she can be awesome for a club because she has a lot of potentiel. She jumps pretty goodwithout anybody and during vacation we are going to try with a rider. She loves water (during hot days, we are going in the river behind the rescue). She can be a really awesome english riding mare !
Dreamer -> She is a Morgan mare, really beautiful ! She was born in the wild so she is kinda afraid of humans but we're trying to make her trust us, slowly but surely. Last week, i spend almost 1h30-2h to pet her and make her accepting me. She was almost sleeping. She can be good for a person with a lot of experience ! who wants to have a project because she really really good !! fluid trot, fluid powerfull canter, ... Awesome !
Chaos -> (yellow halter) Another beautiful gelding, kinda tall (a little too much for me) but he moves really easily !! you should come and see him in the fiel !! His trot is so ... light ! He has never been trained so when the round pen will be build, I am going to start the real work (i wanna try to break him in before leaving usa ...). He can be rally good for english saddle. For a club or someone who wants to do some sport with him !
Lavros -> (blue halter) He is old, lovely, gentle fella but he has a coffin bone broken. The vet said that was ok, he can be ridden on short distances (and he is a little lazy lol but not mean). Perfect for a family who wanna love him, with a pasture where he can roll his back.
Flip Flop -> She is deaf so it's difficult to work with her ... and she is a little big for me. For a person with experience, who wanna help her. She is also really pretty ! Someone said she already had a saddle, but I'll start to work with her when the round pen will be build.
Drifter -> An awful cute POA (Pony Of America). I started to work with him in February. He moves pretty good and can be a jumper or dressage pony. He is 4 year old so he has no experience and is a little spooky but with some trainning, he'll be really amazing. For a club or someone who wants to do some sport with him because he has a lot of potentiel. I started to ride him a couple weeks ago and he did pretty good but need more time, ... i'll work a lot with him during vacation. He is just one of my favourite and has the perfect height !
So i think i'm going to stop there, if you want more details, please come visit or call the rescue.
J.
PS : The rescue also need some donations (cash or hay or fences or other horses' stuffs

This rescue is such a really good place for that kind of horses. They need somewhere to go and be loved. I've just been there a couple times but i have noticed that all the horses want to be helped, you just have to be patient and to listen them. They are adorable ! You really need to visit the Rescue and i think that you could find the horse/pony you have always wanted to have.
I'm working with the horses of the rescue just for a couple weeks and i spent a lot of time with the mare DREAMER. She really needs to be loved and listened to because if you just take the time with her, she has a lot of things to tell you. And under her shy mask, she has a really big heart which just wants to show a person who will love her just for the mare she is and not the mare this person wants her to be. |

| hey guys, I adoptedd paso a few weeks ago and wanted to give you an update.I rode him for the first time on saturday and it's no exageration to say that he is the best a most enjoyable horse i have ever ridden!!!! It took awhile for him to get there,he pitched a fit in the snaffle bit and acted very spooked. So we decided to try him in a hackamore and instantly his head came down and he was a lot more accepting.after about a half hour i had him walking calmly, then he easily went from walk, trot,to canter(or the paso equivalent) and right back down to a trot with voice commands and a little half halt.his gait is unbelievable smooth and controled and because of my cerebral palsy he is a perfect fit for me.He even lets me get down on my hands and knees to pick his feet!I could go on but this was supposed to be a quick update.thank you guys very much!! hopefully we'll be stopping in soon and I can give you all the details. |
