Vinnie, April 2008.
Vinnie was a racing Standardbred and a very special horse and needed alot of care. Vinnie had a fracture in his elbow and couldn't even stand on his right front leg. It he was in severe pain
and unable to even rest his toe on the floor, which began to weaken his good front leg. Upon arrival at the rescue, he and one of our board members, Sheryl, formed an instant bond. It was
love at first sight. Sheryl came everyday to care for her new friend. Vinnie would whinny when he saw her coming. She would spend hours brushing him, talking to him, giving him massages on his
shoulder and leg, and most importantly giving him all the love and attention he so greatly needed. After months of Sheryl's gentle care and with many Reiki cessions, Vinnie was able to stand on
his leg again, put his full weight on it to rest his other leg. This was an incrediible improvement. Vinnie was healing with Love. In time he was able to take baby steps forward on his bad foot and
even pivot his weight on that foot. The rate of his improvements were beyond discription. Sheryl never failed to come care for Vinnie. When let out into his small paddock, he was able to play, rear,
and he was trying to keep other horses from his paddock, which brought tears to everyones eyes. Hearts were filled with such joy and excitement. Vinnie was healing..... Then one morning
something happened. We are not sure what. Perhaps he was playing with a horse over the stall door, or maybe it was something else, but Vinnie re-injured his leg. This time his entire shoulder and leg dropped down about 6-8 inches and was so severely curled, it was locked and we couldn't even be straightened it with the before methods of treatment. Vinnie was beyond fixing this time. The
nature of his injury and his "second injury" was too much. Vinnie was put to rest. His best friend, Sheryl, was devastated, as was everyone who came to know him. He was a gentle soul who loved
people. He will always be remembered and dearly missed by all. God has taken him home and healed him forever. He now runs with all the horses in Heaven and is without pain. He watches over
his friend, Sheryl, waiting until they meet again. Watch the skies, Sheryl, for it is there you will catch a glimpse of him among the clouds. Good bye dear Vinnie, till we all meet again.
Chance was laid to rest in 2008. He had kidney
issues that were beyond repair. He has touched
many, here at Double B, as does every horse
that comes through the gate. He was always
one of the first to greet us at the fence. Chance
had a very hard life and did not deserve what life
dealt to him. Chance is now free to run with
all of Heaven's horses, to play and just be a horse.
His beauty, now graces God's Heavens and until we all
meet again...Chance we love you. His best friends
Chaos and Major were left behind. Major had been
adopted and Chaos is still waiting for his special
person to come take him home.
