In 2006-2007, Double B  had a gorgeous, 16-17 year old Mrogan stallion named Prince come into the rescue, who was used for breeding and had been badly beaten.  Horses react in two ways; fight or flight.  Prince chose to fight.  He developed aggression issues a nd was quite the handful when he was handled or fed.  The original founder of the rescue, at that particular time, had deemed Prince as ; unadoptable, highly dangerous, and unridable.  Prince was gelded, as are all stallions that come to the rescue but, still held his aggressive tendancies..  Prince learned to intimidate everyone tyhat came near and he played on it big time.

In 2008, the original founder of the rescue, threw in his had and abandooned the rescue leaving behind 23 horses whom all depended on him for everything.  This put the remaining board members in a tail spin.  This is when Brenda Dubois stepped into a roll she knew absolutely nothing about and began down sizing the herd.  Brenda, although trying to deal with her own abandonment and working a full time job to take care of herself, stepped up and was able to find good caring homes for half of the herd.  Randy Serino, the vice-president of the rescue, then stepped into the presidents seat and with help from the remaining board members, helped Brenda carry on what they had all joined the rescue for......to help save these horses.  Npo one was quite sure what to do with Prince and being put donw was considered.  Then, a wonderful lady appeared wanting to adopt Proince.  With a great deal of thought, concern for her safety, and apprehension, Randy, as the new president, made the decision to let the lady adopt Prince.  This lady's nameis Valerie Murphy Greene.  Valerie adopted Prince andhas kept in constant contact with Brenda and Randy to let them know of her progress with this very aggressive horse.  On June 8th, 2009 Randy received a couple of emails from Valerie.  This is what Valerie wrote:
" Randy, Brenda - June 7 was my first ride on Prince.  He didn't want to get on, but once in the saddle,
he was so excellent!  With his MOrgan gait, he is a smooth ride.  I think it was good that I waited this long
to ride him.  We have bonded very tight in just the last month - took him a long time to find any interest in humans,
and we're finally there! "

" I never expected much of anything from him - so to ride him was beyond what I could have imagined.....
But, I had a feeling he would be great with that, finally, and he was!  I'll make a habit of it, now.
I am just crazy about him!"

After a lot of patience, kindness, determination and let's not forget....TREATS....Valerie and Prince have bonded after a very long 8 months of hard work.  Valerie sent us a picture of herself seated upon Prince on their first ride together.  Prince is a most impressive Morgan withthe old stule build.  This picture says it all......You can see how happy Valerie is with ehr Prince.  Valerie, here's to you for your patience with Prince.  And to Prince for his patience with Balerie.  If there was ever a more fitting "Prince Charming" sorty, this is it.  Today, a Prince has come home....to his new "forever" home.  Thank you Valerie for saving Prince and making him a big part of your life.

A small POA gelding named Molson, found a new home with a 4 year old girl in Thorndike, Maine.  The little girl , Denalie, wanted a pony of her own, preferabley a white pony.  Molson came back into the rescue after being away several years and needed a new home.  When  Denalie's grandmother was called about Molson, she wanted him.  Molson was trailered to Thorndike and was walked cross the street to Denalie's daycare.  When this little girl saw Molson, it was love at first sight.  She immediately wanted to sit on him and she bagan to rub her hands all over him.  I stay in close touch with the family, and Denalie and Molson are still inseparable.  She loves him to pieces.  He is mostly white with big loud leopard spots, not quite all white but, love knows no boundries.  Molson has found someone to love him and care for him and Denalie has found her first pony to love.  Even though they have big horses to ride, Molson is her best friend and to see these two together brings a smile to your heart and a tear to your eye to see the love these two share.
